Description
Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is seeking an Energy Sector Manager to play a key execution and coordination role within our Energy & Natural Resources sector. This position sits within a firmwide sector growth platform that is being built to standardize how industry sectors are managed and scaled, with Energy & Natural Resources serving as a core strategic sector. This role is ideal for a high-potential professional with strong industry awareness who is eager to grow into broader responsibility over time, and who thrives in an environment that requires structure, adaptability, and the ability to execute effectively with direction. A working knowledge of and strong interest in the dynamic Energy sector is required.
This position is open to our offices in Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Denver, New York City, Washington, D.C., Charlotte, and Raleigh. This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of 3 days/week onsite.
Responsibilities
Sector Execution & Coordination
- Execute against the Energy sector’s approved business plan, KPIs, and growth priorities as directed by sector leadership.
- Translate strategic direction into structured workplans, timelines, and deliverables, adjusting tactics as priorities evolve.
- Maintain planning tools, trackers, and dashboards aligned with the firm’s sector management framework.
- Proactively identify risks or constraints, adapt execution approaches, and escalate issues appropriately.
Industry Visibility & Thought Leadership
- Support industry-facing initiatives, including sector materials, market insights, and thought leadership campaigns.
- Assist with flagship Energy initiatives, surveys, and regional or global sector events.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure content is accurate, current, and ready for use in client and business development contexts.
Business Development Support
- Support sector-led pitches and growth initiatives in coordination with internal business development teams.
- Prepare and maintain standard Energy sector materials and experience summaries.
- Conduct research on Energy subsectors, competitors, and market trends to support client initiatives and leadership priorities.
Market Intelligence
- Maintain working fluency in Energy & Natural Resources market dynamics, including subsectors such as oil & gas, mining, utilities, nuclear, and renewables.
- Track relevant regulatory, market, and competitive developments and synthesize insights for internal stakeholders.
- Support regular sector reviews and leadership reporting.
Operations & Governance
- Maintain core operational infrastructure for the Energy sector, including calendars, distribution lists, shared resources, and meeting coordination.
- Support sector budgeting and expense tracking under direction.
- Ensure consistency, follow-through, and reliability in a fast-moving, evolving environment.
Requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, public policy, engineering, or a related field; advanced degree a plus.
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in advisory, consulting, strategy, operations, or industry-focused roles.
- Background in professional services or industry environments such as:
- Big Four accounting or advisory firms
- Consulting firms
- Energy companies, utilities, infrastructure, or adjacent sectors
- Law firms
- Regulatory, policy, or financial institutions with Energy sector exposure
- Ability to engage credibly on industry topics including market structure, regulatory dynamics, and investment trends.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple workstreams and deliver results amid change.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); comfort adopting new systems and leveraging AI-enabled tools to improve efficiency, analysis, and execution.
